KEDACOM drone has made a successful maiden flight in Izmir, Turkey. The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Bekir Pakdemirli attended to witness the moment.

“It would play a crucial role especially for forest fires,” said the minister. He praised KEDACOM drone for its capability of helping authorities make more informed decision quickly.

The event has also been broadcasted on NTV, the first and one of the most-watched news channel of Turkey.

As one of the rare countries where forested areas are increasing gradually in recent years, forest fire prevention has become a hot topic in Turkey. How to effectively decrease responding times, lower monitoring costs, and accurately determine the location and intensity of the fire has become a key part to the authority.

KEDACOM drone is able to scan a large amount of area on one flight, and it can be operated steadily in strong breeze and moderate rain. In addition to that, the system can easily distinguish fires from other moving subjects, such as human, vehicles and animals.

Shown in the picture, even a small fire on the roadside can be detected with KEDACOM carry-on thermal camera, and the distinct images will be transmit back to the ground station in real-time. The early detection allows the authorities to take immediate actions, and extinguish the fire before it spreads out.

In addition, a triple redundant flight control system capabilities gives KEDACOM drone the reliability to safely carry out its flight missions. In case if any one of the three systems fails to work, the remaining two will take over.
